The Ecofresh Heat Recovery Wheel
(HRW) recovers total energy, sensible as well as latent, and meets all the requirements of
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), Humidity Control and Energy Savings. Incorporation of
EcoFresh Heart Wheels into the airconditioning systems mean more outdoor air at
lower energy cost (reduced chiller and boiler/exhaust load).
How does the EcoFresh Wheel work?
The EcoFresh Heat Wheel uses custom-made metallic honey comb matrix coated with a
special grade desiccant "Ecosorb 340" adsorption material. In a typical
installation, the wheel is positioned in a duct so that it is divided into two half moon
sections. Stale air from the conditioned space is exhausted through one half while
outdoor air is drawn through the other half in a counter flow pattern.
At the same time, the wheel is rotated slowly (approx. 20 RPM).
Sensible heat is transerred as the metallic
substrate picks up and stores heat from the warmer air stream and gives it up to the
cooler one. Latent heat is transferred as the synthesised metallic substrate
condenses moisture from the air stream that has
the higher humidity ratio through adsorption by Ecosorb ( with a simultaneous
release of heat ) and release the moisture through evaporation (and heat pick-up)
into the stream that has the lower humidity ratio.
1. Selectivity:
EcoFresh wheels use a special grade low pore size zeolite desiccant of proprietary mix
"EcoSorb 340", eliminates carryover of bacteria and airborne contaminants i.e.
selective adsorbtion. EcoSorb allows only water molecules to pass through it, rejecting
all other pollutants. As a result, the contaminants remain in the exhaust.
2. High diffusion rates:
EcoSorb 340 not only has a very high selectivity but also combines high diffusivity with
selectivity.
3.Structural rigidity: Ecofresh wheels have an extremely high structural strength as a
result of the state-of-the-art winding technology and adhesives.
4.Highly Polished Surface:
Vertical run out less than 2mm for 2000mm resultin in extremely low leakage across the
seals.

8. In-built purge sector eliminates cross contamination:
Purge section provides strict separation of air flows, preventing carryover of bacteria,
dust and pollutants from exhaust air to supply air. Purge section and labyrinth sealing
system limit cross contamination to 0.4% of the exhaust air concentration by volume.
